Jessica Murphy, Ed.D.
Executive Director

Jessica joined LiftED in 2018 as Program Director and was appointed Executive Director in January 2022. In her role as Executive Director, Jessica remains inspired by LiftED’s mission to confront inequity by helping youth develop critical- and creative-thinking skills, equipping them to become confident leaders. Before relocating to Toronto, Jessica held various educational leadership roles, including Founding Principal of a middle school in New York City that focused on innovative learning experiences for underserved communities. Her passion for education was ignited during her time as a Grade 5 teacher with Teach for America, where she recognized education as her life’s calling. Jessica pursued a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Colorado – Boulder, followed by a Master of Science in Teaching from Fordham University and a Master of Education in Education Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University. In 2014, she earned a Doctorate in Education in Administration K-12 from Seton Hall University.
